Koulés ist eine Festung im Hafen von Heraklion. Sie wurde um 1540 von den Venezianern erbaut.
Es gibt zwanzig Räume und Lagerräume im Erdgeschoss hinter dicken Mauern, in denen noch mittelalterliche Kanonenkugeln gelagert sind. Auf dem Dach befindet sich eine große Galerie mit einem atemberaubenden Blick auf das Meer. Unter der Festung befindet sich ein dunkler geheimer Gang (es ist erlaubt, ihn am Anfang zu betreten), der genutzt wurde, um zu fliehen und den Feind beim Verlassen zu überraschen.
Als die Türken die Kontrolle über Kreta übernahmen, wurde die Festung ebenfalls als Gefängnis genutzt.
Es ist ein bemerkenswert gut erhaltenes Beispiel militärischer Architektur des 16. Jahrhunderts.
