Instalado en el borde de un amplio promontorio rocoso que es acariciado por un meandro de la Lesse, el castillo de Walzin ha impresionado a la gente desde siempre, incluyendo a Victor Hugo, quien dejó un dibujo fechado en 1863.
Construido a partir del siglo XIII, el castillo ya no tiene mucho de medieval, a excepción de la torre de esquina en forma de herradura (siglo XV); todavía posee cuatro saeteras.
El resto del edificio ha sido fuertemente modificado, especialmente entre 1930 y 1932. La opción elegida fue adoptar una arquitectura tradicional y proceder a una unificación estilística.
Pero más que la arquitectura, es el entorno natural del castillo lo que sigue siendo excepcional.
