Houtvenne es una aldea en la provincia belga de Amberes y un distrito del municipio de Hulshout. Houtvenne fue un municipio independiente hasta la reorganización municipal de 1977. Houtvenne probablemente se originó bajo los carolingios. Muchos habitantes locales designan esta región con el nombre de Josterwijk. Oosterwijk-Houtvenne creció alrededor de una capilla dedicada a San Adriano dentro de la parroquia de Herselt, que desde 1365 estaba bajo la administración de la abadía de Tongerlo. En 1651, Oosterwijk-Houtvenne se convirtió prácticamente en una parroquia autónoma, aun bajo el control de esa misma abadía. En el siglo XIX, la capilla también fue transformada en una iglesia.
