Un problema de lenguaje costó aquí la vida de ocho personas en un solo día y doce personas resultaron heridas. Aquí ocurrió un accidente ferroviario el 27 de marzo de 2001. Un señalero en Waver había visto que un tren había ignorado el semáforo y que un tren de Lovaina venía en dirección contraria. El señalero de Waver llamó al señalero de Lovaina para cortar la corriente del cableado aéreo y así detener los trenes. Ambos no entendieron el idioma del otro. Y los trenes chocaron frontalmente entre sí. Ahora todavía puedes ver una inscripción en dos placas conmemorativas de piedra. La inscripción está hecha en dos idiomas.
