Esta es una calle que en realidad debería llamarse 'Damanstraat'. La familia trabajadora, activa en la resistencia. En febrero de 1944, la Gestapo irrumpió en su vivienda en la Pleinstraat. El padre fue deportado a Buchenwald a través de Breendonk. La hija Hortense y su madre terminaron en Ravensbruck. Todas sobrevivieron al campo de concentración. Hortense se casó en 1946 con el soldado británico Syd Clews, a quien ayudó a escapar a Inglaterra como resistente durante la guerra. En su nuevo lugar de residencia, Newcastle-under-Lyme, la calle Clews Walk fue nombrada en su honor. Mark Bles dedicó un libro a su vida en la resistencia bajo el título: Child at War, traducido al neerlandés y publicado por la editorial Standaard.
