El actual complejo del castillo fue construido en 1903 por el barón Fernand de Beeckman y su esposa Emilie Wittouck, cuya familia lo adquirió tras la Revolución Francesa. No queda nada de los edificios medievales debido a un incendio alrededor de 1900. Tras la muerte de la baronesa Wittouck (1947), el dominio cambió de propietario varias veces. Finalmente, la asociación sin fines de lucro Gezondheidszorg gestionó durante cuarenta años un centro de turismo social. Alrededor del cambio de milenio, era nuevamente tiempo de cambio. El dominio se dividió entre algunos nuevos propietarios: Group Oostappen (camping), Twin Properties (casas de vacaciones y hotel), vzw Gezondheidszorg (castillo) y Limburgs Landschap vzw (gestión de la naturaleza y centro de visitantes).
