El Ayuntamiento de Veurne desempeñó un papel importante al inicio de la Primera Guerra Mundial. El rey Alberto I tenía su gabinete de trabajo en el salón de arriba. Aquí se discutieron los planes para la inundación de la llanura de Yser con Karel Cogge. También el Estado Mayor del ejército belga tuvo aquí su cuartel general durante varios meses. En la sala Alberto del Ayuntamiento podrás ver, con motivo del centenario de la Gran Guerra, un docudrama sobre la historia de la Gran Guerra en Veurne.
