El Rubenspad comienza en la iglesia de Sint-Hubertus en Elewijt, cruza la carretera Tervuurseseteenweg hacia el camino Sint-Hubertusweg y luego sigue el bien señalizado camino a lo largo de la Waversebaan, el túnel bajo la E19 y continúa a lo largo del hermoso Steendreef hacia 't Steen, donde Pieter Pauwel Rubens vivió desde 1635 con Helene Fourment, su segunda esposa, y su familia hasta su muerte en 1640. Su estancia en el campo favoreció su arte como pintor paisajista. De hecho, muchas de sus famosas pinturas son paisajes de Elewijt. El Rubenspad atraviesa un hermoso paisaje protegido a lo largo del serpenteante Zenne y la ruina de la torre de peaje de Weerdse.
