La subcomuna de Vlezenbeek, que desde 1977 pertenece a Sint-Pieters-Leeuw, debe su nombre a un arroyo del mismo nombre. Este arroyo, de hecho, juega un papel sumamente importante: nace allí, serpentea a través del núcleo del pueblo y divide el municipio fusionado en 2 áreas marcadas: la zona industrial y una zona muy rural. En la ladera del valle norte, históricamente se desarrolló alrededor de la iglesia parroquial un importante núcleo residencial y comunitario, que también en los últimos años ha experimentado una notable expansión. Vlezenbeek y Sint-Pieters-Leeuw pueden mirar atrás en una larga y común historia. Al principio, ambas comunidades formaron parte del dominio de Leeuw. Luego, ambos sitios pertenecieron a la 'Tierra de Gaasbeek'. En 1687, Sint-Pieters-Leeuw siguió su propio camino y pasó a ser propiedad de Jean-Charles Roose.
