Un puente demasiado lejos para los insulares
La isla de Skye, la más grande de las Hébridas interiores, ya no es una isla en sentido estricto. Desde 1995, en efecto, está conectada por un puente de peaje al continente escocés. Si bien fue una excelente cosa para los turistas - y para los motoristas - , muchos escoceses no aprobaron y aún no aprueban esta innovación, incluso si el peaje fue eliminado a finales de 2004. Los Highlanders son insulares en el alma: desde siempre han estado particularmente apego a este estatus.
