Via Roma es una escalera monumental construida a finales del siglo XIX que conecta la parte baja de la ciudad con la parte alta.
Desde el llamado "Chianu Salìa", la intersección entre Via Mulè y Via Roma , después de un camino sinuoso de 300 metros , llegará a Via Mazzini, a tiro de piedra de Piazza Umberto I.
La escalera consta de escalones en triple fila, el del medio más ancho y escalonado en relación con los demás. El suelo es de piedras de mar delimitadas por pequeñas losas que forman un diseño geométrico que recuerda a una especie de gran espiga.
Algunos edificios históricos dan a la escalera, como la torre medieval y el colegio de los jesuitas , utilizado como tribunal.
El 8 de diciembre baja lentamente la escalinata la procesión dedicada a la Inmaculada Concepción , celebración muy sentida en la ciudad.
