Bad Boekelo era un balneario de agua salada natural en las afueras de Boekelo, en el municipio de Enschede, hasta 1985. Actualmente se utiliza como hotel.
La Real Industria Salinera de los Países Bajos inicialmente estaba en Boekelo. La sal tenía poco valor y con un transporte más favorable por agua, la organización mantenía una buena posición competitiva. Por ello, la K.N.Z. ya había obtenido una prórroga de concesión en 1936, cuando se completó el tramo del Canal de Twente entre Hengelo y Enschede, para perforar sal en la zona del canal de Oele y Twekkelo, y también se construyó ese año en Hengelo.
