La fuente de Campo das Hortas es una fuente de estilo manierista con un esbelto sistema piramidal en altura, con dos cuencos superpuestos.
En 1594, el arzobispo Frei Agostinho de Jesús encargó a su maestro albañil favorito, Manuel Luís, la construcción de una grandiosa fuente de granito decorada en el extremo oriental del Campo de Santa Ana (ahora Avenida Central).
En 1865 fue desmantelado y trasladado a la Praça do Comércio y en 1914 se trasladó a su ubicación actual.
