La commune a été créée le 1er janvier 2010 à la suite de la fusion des anciennes communes du Val Bregaglia, à savoir Vicosoprano, Stampa, Bondo, Soglio et Castasegna.
La commune est composée de plusieurs localités : Bondo, Borgonovo, Castasegna, Coltura, Maloja, Montaccio, Soglio, Stampa, Vicosoprano. Le chef-lieu de la commune se situe dans la localité de Stampa.
