L’arrondissement d’Oberthal est l’arrondissement éponyme de la commune d’Oberthal dans l’arrondissement de Saint-Wendel en Sarre.
Le district d’Oberthal est issu des anciens villages indépendants d’Imweiler, Osenbach et Linden. Avec le décret du 22 septembre 1823, le nom officiel a été déclaré « Oberthal » le 1er octobre 1823. De 1200 à 1766 environ, le village appartenait au duché de Lorraine, qui échut au royaume de France par héritage en 1766. Par traité du 15 novembre 1786, le royaume de France cède ce territoire au duché de Palatinat-Zweibrücken. Pendant la domination étrangère française, Oberthal a formé sa propre Marie.
