Questo castello d'acqua non si trova per caso in questo angolo di Oetingen, frazione di Gooik: in questo luogo si incontrarono Hainaut, Fiandre e Brabant. La strada lungo la quale si trova, era un ramo della via romana e si chiama ancora oggi Heerbaan. Il castello d'acqua, per lo più in mattoni con un ponte di pietra come accesso, era il castello dei signori di Heetvelde ed è stato costruito nel 17o secolo sulle rovine di edifici molto più antichi. Un fossato, alcune feritoie e la torre donjon conferiscono all'insieme un tocco militare. Il monumento e il paesaggio sono protetti.
