La Sede di Pitzenburg fu fondata intorno all'anno 1200 dall'" Ordine degli Ospitalieri di Nostra Signora dei Germani in Gerusalemme" (Ordine Germanico) durante le Crociate in Palestina.
Nulla si sa delle prime attività di costruzione . Un'incisione del 1580 mostra un edificio con cortile e cappella . Nel 1664 fu costruito un cancello di pietra blu. Era collegato alla cappella.
Durante l' era francese in Belgio, Pitzemburg fu confiscata nel 1794 e venduta come proprietà demaniale. Nel 1822 la cappella fu acquistata e completamente demolita . Tutto il resto fu acquistato dalla città di Mechelen nel 1827. La residenza dell'ex ordine barocco fu utilizzata per l'istruzione comunale dal 1832.
Fece costruire due padiglioni d'ingresso dalla porta demolita nel 1836.
