Un castello con storia: il castello è stato fondato nel XIII secolo ed è stato successivamente ampliato e murato nel XV secolo. Nel 1543, l'imperatore Carlo V riuscì a mettere le mani sul castello del conte di Jülich. I Francesi lo trasformarono quindi in bene nazionale e lo venderono. Tuttavia, il proprietario dell'epoca non riusciva a mantenere l'edificio da solo e il castello cadde in rovina, diventando purtroppo una rovina. Molti anni dopo, il castello fu rinnovato e dopo la prima guerra mondiale, un ostello per la gioventù fece il suo ingresso nel lato ovest. Così, il Castello rimase vivace e invitante. Ogni anno, nel cortile interno, si organizzano i 'Monschau Klassik', l'orchestra e gli artisti trasformano il Castello in un vero e proprio mekka per gli amanti dell'opera.
