Torri cittadine
Si scrive l'anno 1263. Il più antico stampo del sigillo della città di Borken sotto il documento mostra un castello romanico costruito con massicci blocchi di pietra.
Le mura del castello con i loro merli e il doppio portone sono sovrastate da imponenti torri cittadine. Oggi sono visibili solo resti delle mura.
Cinque torri cittadine medievali - la Torre del ladro, la Torre di Holken, la Torre del valore, la Torre di Wedemhove e la Torre del mulino a vento, sono però ben conservate.
