Il Granruten inizia dal parcheggio di Bjørnevej ed è lunga 2,7 km. Il percorso attraversa un terreno relativamente piano attraverso una piantagione di classiche foreste di conifere, ma in diversi punti è possibile vedere che sono state piantate querce danesi. Il Comune di Skive sta lavorando alla conversione della foresta in un bosco misto di conifere e latifoglie.
