Questo incantevole bosco di faggi è un luogo amato da escursionisti e fotografi. Quando il fogliame lascia filtrare fasci di luce solare dorata, capisci il perché. Nonostante le ripide pendici boscose, puoi passeggiare comodamente lungo il Geleenbeek. Qui il fiume si snoda meravigliosamente in un paesaggio di frutteti, laghetti d'acqua potabile e siepi piene di uccelli.
La possibilità di vederlo è rara, ma il bosco di Stammender è un habitat per la più grande specie di scarabeo dei Paesi Bassi: il cervo volante. Anche il raro lupo di grano si trova qui. Nessuna paura: si tratta di un criceto peloso e selvatico che si nutre di chicchi di grano caduti.
