Over de kunstenaar
Beeldhouwer, tekenaar. Kreeg een opleiding van zijn vader, een Franse steenkapper. Vestigde zich in Frankrijk en studeerde in Tourcoing en Parijs. Hij vindt zijn inspiratie in de menselijke figuur, die schijnbaar ruw uit de steen gehakt wordt en aldus monumentaliteit en kracht uitstraalt, maar ook een zekere kwetsbaarheid; monumentale, statische en massieve vormen in verticale uitbreiding die aan menhirs doen denken. Sinds midden jaren 1990 zette hij zich aan het tekenen, vooral van dansers.
Over het beeld
Het werk Eva, in Bourgondische steen, werd voor het Casino geplaatst als aandenken aan Gustave Nellens (1907-1971), casino-uitbater en promotor van Knokke.
