De stad Hechtel-Eksel in de noordelijke provincie Limburg is van plan een circulaire fietsroute in een bos aan te leggen die fietsers omhoog naar de toppen van de bomen zal brengen. Het is een vergelijkbaar idee als boomtop wandelpaden, die voetgangers uitnodigen om bruggen te nemen die langs de boomtoppen kronkelen. Dergelijke attracties zijn bijzonder populair in de Afrikaanse bossen. Het boomtop fiets pad zal 10 meter klimmen en 700 meter lang zijn.
