Tot enkele jaren geleden waren de vijvers hier voor je nog kweekvijvers voor waterplanten. Na aankoop liet natuurvereniging Limburgs Landschap vzw de vijvers inrichten om zo meer natuurwaarde te creëren. De oevers van de vijvers werden meer hellend gemaakt en het slib werd van de vijverbodems gehaald. Zo is een klein vijvercomplex ontstaan met moeraszones en natuurlijke overgangen. Langs de oevers groeien nu brede rietkragen. Deze rietkragen zijn zeer geliefd bij tal van vogels, denk maar aan de blauwborst en de roerdomp, om in te broeden.
