Edelhof was oorspronkelijk een gebouw dat toehoorde aan het stift en in de 19de eeuw werd omgebouwd tot herenhuis/kasteeltje voor de lokale vooraanstaande familie De Matthys. Het is dus een typisch voorbeeld van 'recentere residenties met kasteelallure'. Vandaag dient het als startpunt/poort naar het Nationaal Park Hoge Kempen.
