De sierlijke vakwerkstad Osterode is het startpunt van de wandeling. Van hieruit, vanuit het graanmagazijn van de Harz (nu het stadhuis), werd ooit de voeding van de mijnwerkers veiliggesteld. Langs de historische Hundscher Weg bereiken we na twee uur klimmen de Marienblick, een prachtig uitkijkpunt over het Lerbachtal.We vervolgen onze weg over mooie bospaden langs de Bärenbrucher Teich naar Buntenbock, de rustig en idyllisch gelegen wijk van Clausthal-Zellerfeld.
