De kleur van het strand van Keros is heel bijzonder en merkwaardig. Het is grijs. Dit komt door de vele fragmenten van schelpen die vermengd zijn met het zand. Ook is het zand zeer fijn (het is meer silt dan zand). Als het nat is het tevens zeer hard.
