Rotsen in de buurt van de kustlijn hebben vaak het kenmerk dat ze kuilen bevatten. Deze kuilen zijn ondiepe, bijna perfecte cirkelvormige verdiepingen van enkele centimeters tot enkele tientallen centimeters: potholes. In deze kuilen wordt tijdens stormen zout zeewater opgevangen. Maar als er een lange rustige en hete periode is, zoals in de zomer, verdampt het water en tref je er een korstje van puur wit zout achter. Veel lokale inwoners verzamelen dit zout. Het wordt ook voor hoge prijzen aangeboden in enkele winkels op het eiland.
