Mullaghmeen is weliswaar maar 258 m hoog, maar toch de hoogste verhoging in County Westmeath in Ierland.
Het gebied is de afgelopen jaren voornamelijk met beuken aangeplant door de Ierse bosbeheerder Coillte en is daarmee het grootste aangeplante beukenbos in Ierland. Daarnaast zijn er vooral Sitka-sparren en edelherten, maar ook inheemse boomsoorten.
Er zijn wandelpaden aangelegd, zodat men op sommige plekken een prachtig uitzicht heeft op het aangrenzende County Cavan en Lough Sheelin.
