De kerk, gesticht in 1530 en gewijd in 1572, behoorde toe aan de Gesuate nonnen van Lucca. Het werd tussen 1707 en 1710 volledig herbouwd.
De vierkante klokkentoren is van baksteen en dateert uit 1710. Het werd gebouwd ter vervanging van een bestaand exemplaar uit 1614.
Binnen is er een 19e-eeuws Agati-orgel en 18e-eeuwse schilderijen. De in een nis in de rechtermuur geplaatste Christus die onder het kruis is gevallen, dateert uit 1705: het is een houten beeldhouwwerk, bedekt met wit stucwerk, dat door Giuseppe Giacobbi voor het Charterhouse van Calci werd gemaakt en in 1808 naar zijn huidige plaats werd overgebracht.
