Vlaardingen ) is een stad en gemeente aan de Nieuwe Maas in het Rijnmondgebied, in de Nederlandse provincie Zuid-Holland. De gemeente maakt deel uit van de Metropoolregio Rotterdam-Den Haag. Tot 2015 maakte Vlaardingen deel uit van de Stadsregio Rotterdam.De gemeente telt 74.118 inwoners en heeft een oppervlakte van 26,71 km². Binnen de gemeentegrenzen liggen enkele oude kernen, zoals het oude dorp Vlaardingerambacht en de heerlijkheid Holy . Door de gemeente Vlaardingen loopt ook een vaart, genaamd de Vlaardingervaart.
