In dit nostalgische dorpsverhaal keert een hoofdpersoon terug naar Marken en wordt overspoeld door herinneringen: aan familie, eerste liefdes en oude conflicten. De houten gevels, het knarsen van steigers en het uitzicht over het water versterken dat gevoel van vroeger‑tijd. Zo wordt Marken niet alleen decor, maar het emotionele hart van de film.
