Mountain-bike route 450 leading from the village of Gerlos in the Zillertal Arena in a southerly direction into the Schönachtal Valley is perfect for families. At the half-way point you find the Issalm, a mountain hut which is open in summer (when the weather is good) and serves hearty local food. The 5.5.km trail up to the hut is wide and not too steep. Most of the ride is through open fields, so keep your eye out for grazing cattle.
The ride begins in Gerlos itself, at a building called the "Jägerstüberl". The first section leads over a bridge onto the other side of the Gerlosbach stream. From there, follow mountain-bike route 450 into the Schönachtal Valley. The first section is tarmac, then the trail becomes gravel. Continue past the "Jörglerhof" building and the "Gasthaus Lackenalm". The ride concludes at the Issalm hut. Return along the way you came.
