Es gab etwas Kontroverses in Bezug auf die antigraffiti Farbe: Die Firma Degussa stellte die Antigraffiti-Substanz Protectosil zur Verfügung, die verwendet wurde, um die Stelen zu überziehen. Das Unternehmen war in verschiedenen Formen an der nationalsozialistischen Verfolgung der Juden beteiligt.
