If you're in need of some vacation vibes, you don't have to venture far. Located by the water of the Westerschelde, Bar Goed is the place to catch that holiday feeling, both in summer and even in winter. 'Ibiza on the Westerschelde' is another name for Bar Goed, the trendy pavilion at the Perkpolderhaven in Walsoorden. A regional beer with a tapas platter, Bitterballen, nachos with pulled chicken or kibbeling tastes even better with a view of the water, whether you’re sitting on the terrace or indoors. If you want to enjoy dining in a unique setting, come to the restaurant and taste the quirky, freshly prepared dishes with a French twist with 'd’n overkant', the Lost Land of Saeftinghe and the port of Antwerp within sight.

The ingredients used in the kitchen of Bar Goed are top-notch. They, together with the creative talents of the chefs, create the flavors that keep you coming back. “We use a lot of local products because we are close to the source. There are many opportunities to source everything locally and fresh, from meat to fish. Our local suppliers come here in their free time to eat and drink. A good relationship with the supplier ensures you get the finest products. That’s the beauty of working locally,” says chef Bas Kindt. For the dishes on the menu, a modern touch is applied to the foundation of traditional French cuisine. “Familiar flavors, but just a little different. That's the fun of our profession. We want to meet expectations.” The homemade paella, Bargoed spare ribs, or tournedos rossini are some classics available year-round, and summer and winter bring specific seasonal dishes to the table. “We do a lot on the barbecue, even in our winter restaurant. Besides our regular dishes, we also offer sharing: a table filled with a bit of everything. That’s fun, so everyone can taste a little of everything.”

In summer, with street food, freedom, and joy, the emphasis is on the Ibiza experience, while in winter, Bar Goed's roots are honored. They lie in the well-known Petrus & Paulushoeve, the former pancake restaurant that Piet Mahu and his partner Hilde started in 1997, where son Yannick transformed the kitchen into a Bib Gourmand from the Michelin guide starting in 2004. In 2018, the Petrus & Paulus Hoeve was sold, and Yannick and his father Piet focused on the catering business P & P and the pop-up bar Bar Goed, which now accommodates about eighty guests indoors. Yannick: “We don't sit still. Events with DJs, special menus, our Sunday breakfasts, Acoustic Sundays, Bargoed Winter Spielen – we continuously adapt to the ever-changing market. Every year, we transform the pavilion into a winter bar after the autumn break. Our guests range, so to speak, between three and eighty-three.” Bargoed is also a great location for a corporate outing or party and offers fun team-building activities in collaboration with Jeppa Sport.
