Il villaggio altmärkico di Wendischbrome, un villaggio a forma triangolare, si trova a est del corso superiore dell'Ohre. Il centro abitato più vicino è Benitz in Bassa Sassonia, circa un chilometro a sud-ovest. Il Brome che dà il nome al villaggio si trova a due chilometri a sud. Il luogo più vicino in Sassonia-Anhalt è Nettgau, che si trova a tre chilometri a nord. Nei pressi di Wendischbrome si trovano le riserve naturali "Ohreaue" e "Ohreaue presso Altendorf e Brome".
Wendischbrome fu fondata come insediamento slavo, mentre i coloni tedeschi dell'epoca si concentrarono principalmente a Brome e Altendorf. Circa dal 1420 al 1535, Wendischbrome rimase deserta, prima di essere ricostruita come un villaggio di forma rotonda.
