Braunfels Castle is a castle located in the Hessian health resort of Braunfels and has been the seat of the Counts of Solms since the 13th century. Today, the castle is family-owned by the Counts of Oppersdorff zu Solms-Braunfels.
The castle is first mentioned in charters from 1246 as "castellum bruninvels". Originally intended as a defensive castle against the Counts of Nassau, it was used as a residence from 1280 and as the main residence of the Counts of Solms from 1384.
