Niederelfringhausen lies south of the main town of Hattingen and east of Langenberg on the L 924 state road in the border area of Brandenburg Westphalia and Bergisches Land. South of the village lies the district of Oberelfringhausen; the Felderbach flows through both villages. The highest elevation is the Immelberg with a height of 277 m. The landscape is called Hattinger Hügelland or Elfringhauser Schweiz. In Niederelfringhausen there is the Niederbredenscheid/Elfringhausen landscape conservation area and the Felderbachtal nature reserve.
