La mattina presto del 26 maggio 1944, 14 uomini vengono portati in quest'area dalla Grüne Polizei.
Vengono fucilati come ostaggi e i loro corpi vengono sepolti in una fossa. È un'azione di ritorsione da parte dell'occupante a causa di un attentato fallito contro un agente di polizia di Tilburg.
In passato sono stati fatti molti tentativi per trovare la fossa comune. Non ci si è mai riusciti, neanche dopo un ampio impiego di materiali difensivi.
