The garden, also called Villa Garibaldi, was created from 1863 , in the middle of Piazza Marina.
The garden has a quadrangular perimeter, the entrances of which correspond to the main roads, and is enclosed by a cast iron fence .
Of the many exotic plants inside, the ficus Magnoloides is certainly the main attraction .
It belongs to the species Ficus macrophylla, just like a specimen in the botanical garden of Palermo, of which it is the symbol.
There are sculptures in the villa, including those by Giuseppe Garibaldi, Rosolino Pilo, Giovanni Corrao, Raffaele De Benedetto, Luigi Tukory and Nicola Bălcescu.
There is also a pond with a fountain , around which fish and turtles swim.
If you go there on a Sunday morning , you will come across the weekly flea market that takes place in Piazza Marina and its surroundings.
