Als der Bau des Schlosses Ende 1877 abgeschlossen war, zog die Familie Maere-Limnander ein. Für die idyllische Gestaltung des Gartens wurde der Landschaftsarchitekt Louis Fuchs beauftragt.
August de Maere ließ um das Schloss herum einen Landschaftspark anlegen. Im Park schuf Fuchs mit Wasserspielen , künstlichen Reliefs , offenen Rasenflächen und effektvoll gepflanzten Baumgruppen eine Landschaftsillusion. Die Rückfassade des Schlosses spiegelt sich in einem Teich , dessen Seitenarm sich in den Wald erstreckt. Am Ufer wurde ein Badehaus errichtet, ein neoklassizistisches Gebäude mit Blick auf die Burg und die sie umgebende Vegetation.
