The Dutch bicycle island Texel
has been elected by National
Geographic as the 12th most beautiful island of the
world, out of a list of 111. The winners were the Faeröer Islands.
Texel was also the place where the Dutch controversial writer Jan Wolkers lived. He recently died at the age of 81.
