If you get lost in the Hallerbos, try putting your left shoe on your right foot and vice versa. There is an old folktale that tells the following:
"A man got lost between Malheide and Essenbeek. The man had ended up in Hallerbos. When the man put his right nugget on his left foot and his left nugget on his right foot, he was suddenly able to orient himself again. The man went to sleep with his clogs at his feet. As long as he didn't take off his clogs, the person who had done that to him had to keep walking around."
