Intorno all'anno 645 , Monon de Nassogne, monaco eremita scozzese, fu ucciso e decapitato nelle foreste delle Ardenne, dove si era stabilito al richiamo di un angelo del Signore. Le sue spoglie furono deposte in un oratorio, che divenne ben presto meta di pellegrinaggi . Da allora sono avvenuti miracoli!

Saint-Monon è il protettore degli agricoltori, del bestiame e dei raccolti. Lo ringraziamo per aver vegliato sulla fattoria dove si producono Saint-Monon, orzo, malto, luppolo, api e alveari, oltre che sulla natura che ci circonda.

Oggi ci sono anche birre che portano il nome di Saint-Monon.
