Het Akropolis Museum opende zijn deuren aan het einde van 2007. Het bevat de belangrijkste kunstwerken die gevonden werden op de Akropolis. Voorheen werden deze kunstwerken opgeslagen in het kleine museum op de Akropolis zelf. In het museum vindt u een lege ruimte voor de Elgin marbles die door de Engelsen werden ''gekocht'' van de Turken, Ze zijn nu in het British Museum. Merlina Mercourri en vele andere Grieken bleven vechten om hun kunstwerken terug te krijgen.
