Het oostelijk deel van Lemnos, rond Repanidi, Kondopouli en Kaleopi is het tarwegebied van Lemnos. Er zijn een heleboel andere plaats waar er ook tarwe geteld wordt, maar hier vind je het ene graanveld naast het andere. De harde tarwe van Lemnos is de bron voor het heerlijke brood dat ze hier hebben. Je zal merken dat het brood een beetje geel is, bijna zoals een cake. Deze tarwe is ook de bron van de vele soorten pasta die ze produceren op het eiland. Eeuwen geleden was Lemnos bekend als de graanschuur van de regio.
