Aquest castell està situat al Lakebossen.
"Raepen" no es refereix a la verdura, però és una falta d'ortografia de "Paepen" o monjos. Al cap i a la fi, aquesta zona forestal antigament era propietat del Ter Duinendabdij de Bruges.
L'any 1800 s'hi va construir un petit castell d'estil Imperi . L'any 1925 el castell es va convertir en el castell neoclàssic que és avui.
La façana frontal té una entrada amb balcó , sostingut per quatre columnes.
El parc probablement es va traçar en un esquema el 1840 . Més tard al segle XIX el parc es va modificar amb més elements d'estil paisatgístic amb camins sinuosos i estanys. L'estructura del parc també va ser modificada al segle XX.
