El Posthoorn pertanyia originàriament a l' agutzil Willem de Clerck , que havia establert el seu tribunal a l'edifici.
A partir de 1588, el monestir de Bethaniën es va allotjar aquí de nou, fins que l'orde monàstic va ser abolit sota el domini francès el 1783 i la propietat va acabar en mans privades. Com veiem sovint, la comunitat monàstica ha tornat a comprar el monestir.
Part dels edificis va ser adquirit per JF Scheppers, que el va convertir en la cerveseria "De Posthoorn".
