El 10 d'agost de 1679 es va fundar a Adeje un monestir sota el patrocini de la Mare de Déu de Guadalupe i Sant Pau, per iniciativa de D. Juan Bautista de Ponte Fonte y Pagés, primer marquès d'Adeje. Va ser fundada per vuit o nou religiosos de l' orde franciscà i va ser la XIX de la província.
El 1802 només quedaven tres germans i un laic. Després de l'exclusió l'any 1835, l'edifici va ser enderrocat progressivament a partir de principis d'aquest segle i convertit en seu del consistori municipal.
