El Jardim da República és un dels parcs més emblemàtics de la ciutat, ja que al costat d'ell se situen diversos edificis importants: l'Ajuntament, la font d'O Lamego, l'Església de Chagas i la Casa dos Pinheiros d'Aragão .
El parc té forma rectangular i, a causa de la irregularitat entre els carrers que el voregen, hi ha una escala d'accés al parc, revestida amb les típiques rajoles blaves i blanques. Compte amb senders, camins forestals i bancs per descansar (alguns fets de pedra i recobert de teules), gespa esquitxada de parterres, un quiosc de música i una font ornamental a la zona central.
En aquest cèntric i cuidat jardí es troba el bust de Faust Guedes Teixeira , inaugurat el 1944, any de la seva mort, així com un gran estany amb una estàtua al centre.
